A CAMPAIGN TO PRESERVE THE KATE
For more than 40 years, the Moosehead Marine Museum and the Steamboat Katahdin – “The Kate” – have offered a glimpse into the glorious days of steam boating and the marine heritage of the Moosehead Lake Region. The Museum is a vital economic engine for the region and the State of Maine. The Kate is a major part of the cultural identity of Greenville.
The Kate is now in need of significant preservation work in order to continue her legacy of cruising on Moosehead Lake and sharing the history and natural beauty of the region. We have launched the Keep Kate Cruising Campaign and set a fundraising goal of $2 million. The project is funded in part by a grant from the Historic Preservation Fund, as administered by the National Park Service, Department of the Interior.
Please consider making a generous donation to this crucial effort to Keep Kate Cruising. In order to maximize your gift, your tax-deductible donation can be pledged and paid over a period of up to five years. Gifts of a Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA for those who are 70 ½ or older and donations from a Donor Advised Fund are welcome, as are gifts of cash.
